The biggest problem I see men are facing right now is that even though we have access to greater abundance than any other time in human history, we’re more unappreciated, lost and disconnected to what makes us fulfilled.
With all the men that I coach on a daily basis, myself included, we’re conflicted with too many choices, frequently falling victim to choice fatigue and overwhelm.
I walked into a smoothie shop the other day only to stand there for 5 minutes scanning the menu, my brain not even allowing me to process so many options until I finally get frustrated and ask the employee, “what’s your best seller?” - “Great, let’s do that.”
SHIT! I don’t need 55 different options of smoothie. Give me 3 options or I’ll just tell you what I like. haha Serious 1st world problems right there!
Truthfully though, it’s of my opinion that although we live in an increasingly abundant age of information & technology, what we’re all seeking more of is not information, but honest wisdom.
Why is it that in a world where we can google or search YouTube for the answers to most of our questions, more and more of us are falling victim to “analysis paralysis”?
We’re given so many options, we find it increasingly difficult to choose the right one. So we spin our tires, we second guess ourselves until eventually we’re so exhausted from over-thinking that we just give in, taking no action and resulting in making zero progress.
So often we get the cart ahead of the horse by asking ourselves “how” something is done, rather than “why” something is done.
This is the kiss of death and the reason so many men are unfulfilled & confused in their lives.
