Overcoming the instinct to lock it all away.
I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I’d prefer to shove my feelings way down, rather than feel them. And when you look at the course of male history… It’s a pretty common symptom we experience.
Of course, how we deal with our feelings and the ways we do address the pain, grieving, and loss are really important.
If we’re going by a hierarchy of methods, I would seem like the healthiest would be to sit with it, feel, and process more immediately, while the least healthy would be treating it with avoidant behaviors or self-destructive habits.
That said, it’s really important not to downplay the damage holding it down can do. In that way, our feelings can almost become like Hulk from Marvel movies: punching everything to dust. So what is there to be done about grief and loss; what’s the best way to deal with them?
If you’re like me, you might need more than a little coaxing to begin processing. In this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I’m going to share some methods my coach gave me to use recently.
What you can learn here could be instrumental to helping you find much needed healing.
