How Repression Leads to Depression

by Mar 30, 2022

Avoiding the slippery slope

As men, we’re taught that the stoic, non-emotional men in our lives are the ones at the top of the food chain. Those who are vulnerable, and in tune with their emotions, are perceived as being weak, or incapable of leadership.

However, emotional release can be tough to navigate.

Emotional recycling only leads to judgment, shame, or guilt, and is rooted in criticism. When we release our emotions instead of recycling, we do so through the lens of compassion, empathy, and love.

On this episode, I discuss both the pitfalls and healthy ways to process our emotions, and why it’s so important to be open and honest with our feelings.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Love / Hate. (0:46)
  • Overt vs covert repression. (3:43)
  • Do you have a mindfulness practice? (7:30)
  • Emotional recycling vs release. (10:45)
  • What’s under the anger? (14:07)
